What can I say, it was a dirty job with some very "fishy" characters, but I have reached a decision and let there be no doubt that "pound for pound and roll for roll", Sushi Creek is the Valleys best overall sushi restaurant! I give it 2 thumbs up, 5 stars, 2 snaps up in a circle, etc. Make no mistake, Sushi Creek delivers!!

Does it have the glitz and glam of a Pure in Scottsdale or the trendiness of a Mill Ave Ra? No it does not. What it does offer is great service, great sushi, and great prices.

I am reminded of the old adage, "you get what you pay for" and how it has bit me in the toosh on more than one occasion. However, with Sushi Creek, you get MORE than what you paid for.

The Sashimi and Sushi items both offer a very generous cut, the Softshell Crab is without question the best in the area. In my opinion the key to the Softshell Crab is to keep it fairly simple, dredge it in a lightly seasoned flower, toss it on the grill and serve when ready. It always irritates me when a restaurant tries to glam up the entree's and apps too much. Enhance, don't change the flavor and always let a quality fish or shellfish stand on it's own.

The various signature and traditional rolls did not disappoint as the creativity of the Sushi Creek team really shines through. The French Kiss and Dynamite are just 2 of the very wonderful offerings, I would mention more, but feel you need to get out there and find out for yourself.

Dan has declared this weekend, "Tanya Weekend", what exactly does that mean you ask? I am only listening to Tanya's music. I have been a fan since I saw her on Hee Haw in 1970 something. Then through mutual friends at time I was very sick, laid up in a less than perfect military hospital, I got a card from Tanya. Talk about a pick me up.

What brought on "Tanya Weekend" you ask? Well, I was simply toiling away, got on a conf call and as I was on hold for the host to login, the background music was Tanya singing "What's your mama's name", so I took that as a sign. Only Tanya Tucker music the entire weekend.

Great simple recipe for the grill

Hey everybody, just wanted to drop a very simple and easy to prepare new Dancipe.

1 Port tenderloin
2 jars or cans of Black Cherries in JUICE, not glaze or pie filling. ( I prefer Trader Joes Marano Cherries)

Marinate the tenderloin overnight in a dish or bowl so the loin is completely covered.

Remove Tenderloin from the dish and toss on the grill leaving the cherries in the dish. (I prefer to cook on charcoal or wood)

Heat skillet or saute pan and toss the cherries in with a dash of your favorite seasoning salt until the juice begins to thicken. (I prefer Nicks seasoning made in Madison, IL at Hamilos Bros)

When the tenderloin is done (and don't overcook and dry it out), remove and let it sit for about 3 min, then slice. Place on your favorite serving dish and and drizzle the cherry sauce over the pork.

Charming, fun and quaint are the first words that come to mind when you walk in to Romeos. Well, maybe I should add, “Super Yummy Sweet”, as the many wonderful desserts they offer are in full view as you walk in.

The menu was as advertised, very euro cross cultural. However, it had a very definite Greek influence in a great many of the dishes. They offer a very limited yet diverse selection of micro brews and wine, but the fun really begins when you see the menu.

We got the ball rolling with the Feta Dill Fritter and Eggplant Cappicola appetizers.

The Feta Dill Fritters were a very simple pastry ball filled Gyro meat, Feta, Pine nuts and Spinach. It was a true burst of flavor in every bite and the texture from this fantastic combination leaves you wanting more after every bite. Served with a wonderful side of Tzatziki Sauce (yogurt sauce) it’s an item I can’t recommend enough. Two thumbs up, 5 stars, however you choose to rate it, it’s just darn good.

Now, the Eggplant Cappicola was indeed a pleasant surprise. I really didn’t know what to expect here as I knew the quality of the cappicola ham would make or break this dish. That question was answered with my first bite, the cappicola was TOP SHELF. Eggplant wrapped around sliced cappicola and provolone and deep fried. Enough said, well let me add one more thing. They did serve a very tantalizing little marinara sauce on the side. This sauce would taste great on a catcher’s mitt. Fabulous!

Let’s get ready to rumble and talk ENTRÉE!!

After going back and forth and again and again with our top 5 choices, then our top 3, then we narrowed it down to one, only to have our server convince us to try “her favorite”, the Pasta Rustica.

This concoction of Italian sausage, Jumbo Shrimp, Zucchini, Mushrooms and Sweet Red Peppers tossed in Ziti with a Pesto Cream Sauce was true delight. The flavor blast this dish provided was beyond description. In my opinion, it was the sausage that really brought it all together. Very lean and exhibiting a very subtle yet full blast of flavor is how I described this fantastic naturally encased delight.

Dessert? If I talk about the Lemon Curd Tart or the endless layers of Devils food, Chocolate Mousse, Cheesecake I will have to leave and get a carryout, IT WAS THAT GOOD.

So often the difference between a great or bad dining experience comes down to the service as we all know, well, I don’t even know where to begin. Per her words, she was 83 and hailed from Massachusetts originally. She was the true “icing on the cake”. Pay her a visit and let her know that, Dan sent you.

I have never been real big on the whole social network stuff like MySpace and Facebook, but I was recently coaxed into joining Facebook and I jumped in head first.

Well I have to admit, at first it was very nice reconnecting with old friends and classmates, exchanging pics of our families and catching up on life in general. Then it happened. The "food flinging", the "passing out drinks", "snow ball fights", etc, etc, etc. It's insane and can be very overwhelming!!

So here's the deal according to me, Facebook really can be alot of fun, but if you fling food, or any of that other crapola, you can no longer Call Me Dan. Think about it.

I was watching a news show last night and they were discussing former V.P. candidate Sarah Palin and her recent interview. Why? Because several idiot journalists around the country just can't seem to move on and forward. Whether you liked her or not, leave her family (particularly her children) alone. The election is long gone, history was made by both Republicans and Democrats.

Find some new headlines that aren't so TIRED.

My next observation is the always ongoing obsession with the First Lady's wardrobe and all the energy that is put into wondering who she'll be wearing. Who cares! We as a country are facing a lot bigger issues than the First Ladies hem lines or if she picked the right shoes to wear. I am not singling out Mrs. Obama at all, First Ladies have been scrutinized up and down over their wardrobes since Martha Washington danced with George at the first inagural ball.

Christmas Manners

I am making one of my Christmas wish for this year and hope you can help this year, I am making a request that while everyone is out shopping this year to smile and say hello to at least one person you don't know in each store you shop. Believe me when I say it's a warming experience that can be contagious in a very good way.

While your driving around looking for parking, let someone merge in, don't speed up to keep that one car from getting in front of you.

If you see someone drop a package or something fall unoticed from a shopping bag, help them out and let them know, or pick it up for them.

Maybe, just maybe you will continue through the New Year and beyond. I can say I never regret smiling.

Interesting visit to the "store"

Last night was a very fun and hilarious experience. We went with some friends to an adult boutique in search of some party gifts for a naughty themed holiday party they were attending. They asked us to go with them and kind of show them around as they had never been.

We have been there before, but I don't believe we ever discussed it with them. Did they just assume we have been there? Do we project an image as being experts in the field? Hmm. Both good questions.

So, after a little mental deliberation I got to thinking, WHO CARES!. I am actually proud that my wife and I are not afraid to explore "new frontiers" together.

A little "buzz" here, a little "buzz" there, it's all good. Call it Chicken soup for the soul. LOL.

Get out and don't be afraid, fantasy can and should be a very healthy thing.

Words cannot even begin to express my thoughts regarding the recent tragedy at the New York Walmart store.

Is Walmart to blame? Certainly not in my opinion.

Has the economy put people into such a frenzy on being the first to a deal? Maybe.

We have seen similar situations happen in good economies, so it is hard to say.

Should some of these shoppers be charged with a crime? I believe the authorities have to move forward with pressing charges. I guess the tale of the videotape will determine who?

Well, as I type this we are in the middle of a history making election that will be decided in a few short hours. That really isn't the point of my post though.

I have a friend/colleague who is a brand spankin new citizen of the United States and just voted in her first election. I was speaking with her earlier today and we discussed the election and our various thoughts and observations of this historic day. What really made me smile, was her enthusiasm and pride she had about casting her vote. Listen up people, we should all have that same feeling when casting our ballots. Don't take this great priveledge for granted.

There really is a lesson in there folks. Appreciate and Respect what WE have!!

Hello Fans, Friends and Foes, as everyone knows and have been quite vocal about. As all of you know, September has not been my busiest month, and I do apologize for not communicating a little more to let you know I was taking a "semi-break". My email was been flooded and overflowing with several requests for info, reviews, etc, and alot of folks just wanting to know if I was okay in general, and that was very nice. I just had a real major case of "Roadblock-itis" this month and could never seem to get in the groove.

Here is the good news, the mental barricades have been removed, the batteries recharged and this cowboy is ready to ride the cyber range again.

I was debating what to say, if anything about my recent adventure when I decided on the "Texas Hold'em approach" and go ALL IN.

I was up in Seattle attending a course called The Pursuit of Excellence. It's not really one of those self help, mushy gushy "I get it, or I don't get it" type of courses that always makes for great parodies on TV shows and in the movies.

The Pursuit is more about providing you a set of tools you can use or discard, it's not about pressure, or judging anything. For me it was about organizing the million things in my head, and realizing that it's ok not to be perfect everyday. That was good to learn, lol. That's all I am gonna say about that for now, you can get more accurate info off the site here.

I met some fantastic people and had a great time.

The world lost a wonderful entertainer today with the passing of Mr Jerry Reed. I remember back in Jr. High and our P.E. teachers were required to teach us to "dance", LOL, the song Amos Moses was one of the most popular. Jerry Reed was not only just an actor and singer, but the man was one great composer. You can find his influence and songs through out multiple generations of singers and musicians. Mr. Reed had a real gift and we were fortunate.

So long Cletus, no question in my mind you are "Northbound". Of course you can Call Me Dan, but it's Mr. Reed always for me.

Review of Podmaxx 08 for iPods

I just went through a very frustrating time with my iPod and lost about 2000 songs. Not too happy about that. To add insult to injury, Apple basically told me I was S.O.L.. I was ready to go buy a Zune and donate my 80 gig iPod to charity.

Now the good news, a friend of mine whom has very similar taste in music said to come over and he could fix it. Long story short, he used this Podmaxx 08 program to transfer the songs from his iTunes library to mine. We had about 1300 songs the same, that was sweet. As soon as I got home I went to www.Podmax08.com and INTSTALLED!!!

Great job to the folks at Bling Software, they have rescued another hostage of iTunes.

Todays article on former astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell could be viewed several ways.

A former national media star looking to reclaim some attention?

A senile scientist shooting off at the mouth?

A guy fed up with the government hiding everything?

Who knows, it's anybodys guess.

But, I can't help but wonder there might be a smidgen of truth to it. I realize I am about to offend all the religons of the world by stating this, but I think the human race would have to be pretty darn arrogant to think we are the only form of life in the universe or beyond.

I know what the bible says, but let's think about science and other factors for just a bit, not ruling out anything about religon. Just saying that faith doesn't have to be sacrificed for science.

FORMER NASA astronaut and moonwalker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens do exist.

And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.

Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.

Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now".

"It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.

I could offer an apology if this post offends anyone, but I don't see that happening as I just spent a very frustrating afternoon in a virutal "rasslin match" while trying to renew one of my SSL certificates over at Godaddy.

You see, to get your SSL Cert, you have to generate some codes and numbers and such thats called a CSR for verification purposes. None of that really matters, the bottom line is I kept getting rejected and the reason they gave me was very vague about why.

However, despite the vague rejections and the general lack of communication on Godaddy's part, since I am Dan, I finally figured it out. What was wrong? My "CSR" was missing a period. That's right, a little dot in the code was missing and caused me a whole lot of frustration and grief. This little guy was the reason, "."

That's when the hamster started turning the mighty wheel in my head and the blood was a pumpin I finally realized "The Power of the Period!"

It's not just a dot, think about it, "missed a period", "skipped a period", "got my period" "my period is late", "forgot about my period", "typewriter dropped a period", "she got her period".

I could go on and on and on and on, but I would have to buy more bandwidth to publish all there is to say about the "Almighty Period".

A good majority of us were raised with things like the "Golden Rule", Ten
Commandments,(thou shall not lie), and a general belief that is was good to ALWAYS tell the truth. I am not convinced that telling the truth each and every time is a good thing. I watched a TV show out of morbid curiousity called The Moment of Truth.

This show is crap and a very poor statement about our society in general. I was embarrassed as a human being at what I saw and continue to be amazed at what people will do for money, just very sad in my opinion.

I realize it's a choice to go on this show, but if you look at the bigger picture, it's just not a good thing.

I have been having a bit of a dilemna with my latest DVD copying program, it's called ################ and I cannot get this supposedley "greatest dvd copy software in the world" to copy anything that has come out since this last Christmas. I have followed the forums and tech support, but they can't get this "coaster making software" to work. I say coaster as that's all these blank dvds are good for after try to copy a movie. I noticed you have a few programs you have endorsed, give me the 411 on what I need for just a straight DVD to DVD copy.

It hasn't been updated in over 14 months and in that time, Sony and New Line have rolled out a few different encryption technologies that your current program evidently has not solved yet. Kind of surprises me as they have always been a top program in the past, I don't understand their failure to improve and roll with the new stuff. Ok, great new recipe for you all. My good friend Hulls who happens to be of Haitian descent turned me on to Plantains recently. (The yellow ones). So, he gave me some direction about preparing them on the grill and needless to say, I am hooked, these things rock.

But, as we all know, I like to escalate things a bit and take them to the next level, so, having been on a recent visit to our local Olive Oil Mill, I pulled a bottle of olive oil that has been infused with Vanilla Bean. (Yummmmmmmy).

Take the grilled plantains from the grill, slice diagonally, then drizzle the vanilla bean olive oil over the slice plantains, wait 30 seconds and DIG IN!!!

iPhone on the decline?

According to a vendor survey by IDC, the Apple iPhone saw its market share shrink in the "smartphone" market for the Q1 2008. For the fourth quarter 2007, the iPhone had about 27 percent of the market which has now shrunk to just over 19 percent. It seems that all of the lost market share was taken back by RIM's Blackberry line which moved from 35.1 percent to 44.5 percent market share in the same period. IDC analyst Ramon Llamas added that RIM's success is because it has finally widened its appeal from the "professional" segment which had been its core consumer. Although IDC did not reveal the total amount of smartphones sold for the quarter, Apple has said it sold 1.7 million iPhones, including overseas sales. Additionally, Palm picked up market share as well, moving from 7.9 percent to 13.4 percent for the quarter. IDC added, "Palm also did really well. It posted a sequential gain mainly on the strength of the Centro phone." Filling out the list was Samsung with 8.6 percent and Motorola with 2.6 percent, which had the steepest drop of any company in the top 5.

Two of my fantasies in life, (I have many more, but this is basically a family site so...) involve music and me.

I have always had a fantasy about driving into some little po dunk town, hitting the local Bar and Grill for lunch when I see a piano in the corner. Next thing you know, a crowd is gathered round and I am pounding the ivories with some Jerry Lee and Little Richard tunes.

My other is sitting around a big bonfire at the beach and playing guitar while we all just sing.

Hot Dog Pizza?

Yes, that is correct. HOT DOG PIZZA!!!..

I have always been proud of my unique ability to create something delicious out of the "unusual" when pressed. Call me a "cook in the clutch".

I had a taste I couldn't quite put a finger on, not much in the fridge to get to wild with that wasn't frozen. I had no time to wait for a defrost either, my daughter "Zelda" and I were jonesin for some yum.

With half a jar of instant pizza sauce,half bag of mixed shredded cheese, I was off to a good start.(I throw out the green shreds ala R.J.) But what would bring it all together?

Bada Bing, Bada Boom, we had 2 hot dogs in the meat drawer.

Spread the sauce on 2 slices of bread, sprinkle some cheese, layer a few thinly sliced pieces of a Ball Park frank, (Remember, they do plump when you cookem, even if sliced), sprinkle a tad more cheese over the hot dogs, pop in the toaster oven for 3 min.

BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! That is a party in your mouth.

I did something today that I had made a semi-promise to myself not to buy donuts from the recently reopened Krispy Kreme store near us as the lines are long and horrible. So, as I am waiting in the drive-thru and people are coming and going from inside the store, here comes a dad with two little girls and an arm full of donuts and drinks when a gust of wind starts scattering the napkins he was carrying.

Now, here is my real B, gripe and semi complaint. I dropped my wife (we shall call her Daisy) at the airport the other day and this "gentleman" and I were both backing out, well, I thought he gave me the hand wave to go ahead and pull out. I was wrong evidently. I started to back up and all of a sudden he is slapping the back window of the family truckster and screaming at him.

I thought I must have hit some luggage or something, so I jumped out to see what "I had done", and he gets all up in my face and screaming and waving his hands, it was a real insane situation.

So, no way am I arguing with this idiot, so as I start to walk away, he grabs my shoulder and spins me around and starts with the finger poke to the chest. I am a pretty peaceful guy, some might call me a pussy cat of a guy, but you poke that finger in a mans chest, be ready for an unpleasant reaction. He got one too, but it was so silly, stupid and unneccessary.

Lighten up everyone. This world could really use a group hug.

Naked Swim Day

I went out for a jog in the 105 degree heat today with the intention of keeping it smart and short at 30 minutes. So, I headed out, got a good little work out in, but was feeling pretty darn hot, so as soon as I hit the house I jumped in the pool, shorts, shoes, socks and all. Whew, it felt very nice. But, after 45 seconds the wet clothes started to feel a tad clingy, so I did what Dan does best and stripped down.

So, as we all know, I am basically a nudist that believes every Wednesday should be National Naked Day. Well, let's add Tuesday as National "Swim Naked Day" That cool chlorinated water felt absolutely WONDERFUL!!

Movie Review of The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The latest film adaptation of C.S. Lewis's classic series, The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian is sure to be a box office smash. I only have one minor complaint, it is a tad on the violent side for children 6 and under. (In my opinion only). I took my 5 year old daughter (whom we shall call Zelda) and she buried her head in my arm more than a few times, but, in all fairness, she tends to do the same with Harry Potter films.

I loved it, I am not going to go into a bunch of details that spoil the film like most reviews, but I LOVED IT.

I recieved a message the other day inquring what my all time list of fave flicks were, hmmm.

My love for the cinema runs deep and can be traced back to 1970 when I was a mere 5 years old and supposed to be asleep in the back of the family station wagon as my parents watched the Robert Altman classic M.A.S.H. at the French Village Drive-In. Sorry mom and dad, but yes, I was awake, and I saw Sally Kellermans brief boob and muff shot in the shower. Sorry, but quietly giggled and giggled and giggled. I had no real clue about what I saw, but had a pretty good idea you wouldn't approve.

So, how do I even begin to narrow it down to 10 movies.

Movie Review of Speed Racer.

When that 3 o'clock bell used to ring in school, I like most of my friends would rush home to catch the double feature of Gilligans Island and Speed Racer. Gilligan came on first so sometimes we would hit the Tasty Freeze for a soft serve or slush and get home just in time to hear the ultimate theme song of Japans greatest cartoon ever, Speed "Freaking" Racer.

The recent big screen release of the Speed Racer movie can best be summed up with something my mom used to say to me, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all".

I don't normally do this, but some associates of mine who have developed some fantastic products over the years have hit the wall on the Blu Ray thing and are not being completely upfront with the customers hoping to copy Blu Ray DVDS. The bottom line is they are selling part of an application and you have to purchase another app that is gonna bring you in around $150 bux. Not cool Fabrice.

I cannot rec this Blindwrite product. It truly sucks canal water.This is crap and I can't believe the good people at BurnWorld are promoting it just to make a buck. Not my style.

I am very disappointed in this.

What is the worlds aversion to simply saying "hello" when you walk by someone on the sidewalk, or in the mall, etc.? I can't tell you how many "hello's" I have tossed out there and received no response. I honestly don't do it to get a response, but you can't help but notice after a while when you don't even get a smile in return.
